This program is designed primarily for people who have clear patterns of compulsive use of alcohol or drugs that are affecting their ability to function ; but who are able to maintain basic daily routines and have access to community supports for recovery. Clients are provided information about substance abuse and dependency and are guided to support each other in completing honest self- assessment of the extent of their substance use and the negative consequences of using. Evidence-based motivational, cognitive-behavioral, and emotional-regulation change strategies are utilized to promote, the establishment of a non-using lifestyle for each client. IOP meets three sessions each week for eight weeks. A continuing care component of the program provides support and stabilization to the clients’ efforts to establish and maintain non-using lifestyles. Continuing care meets one time per week for 12 weeks.
